Assistant Lodge Manager

Job Type: Full-time | Salary from: $24/ hour

The Assistant Lodge Manager at Keefer, is a dynamic role that requires an individual with a high level of organization, attention to detail and flexibility.

In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the lodge as well as many planning and clerical duties associated with keeping a food and accommodation outlet and special event venue operational.

As a small family owned business our ideal candidate would some who is versatile and would be excited and willing to work a hybrid role within other departments throughout the year, according to business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setting and maintaining guest service standards in all lodge operations
  • Procuring, maintaining, and tracking inventory levels of housekeeping, front-of-house food service, first aid, the bar and general lodge supplies
  • Working with the bookings team to assist in organizing the logistics for guest arrivals and departures
  • Assist with and oversee all aspects of events held on the property to ensure efficient execution and guest satisfaction
  • Operating and maintaining systems for property management software and the point-of-sale system
  • Maintaining, balancing, and reconciling cash sales and associated cash floats for the lodge when necessary
  • Ensuring the general cleanliness and upkeep of the lodge and its’ buildings including communications with the maintenance team for quick and efficient correction of issues as they arise
  • Maintaining the lodge retail area including continual organization, merchandising, and tracking inventory levels
  • Working with out-of-house suppliers to obtain products and supplies for the lodge
  • Maintaining files, receipts, and associated documents within the lodge operations
  • Being a role model for other employees throughout the resort property

Skills

  • A minimum of one years' work experience in hospitality
  • A minimum of one years' work experience in a leadership role
  • Knowledge and experience in hotel operations including housekeeping practices, front office operations and utilizing property management systems
  • Experience in fine-dining food service
  • Knowledge of basic bar services
  • A diploma or degree in hospitality operations is preferred but not necessary

Salary and Shifts

  • Compensation: $22.50-$27.00 per hour, dependant on experience
  • Work schedule will be shift rotation that includes a variety of mornings, days, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Shift rotations will vary according to the season and business needs but typically follow 4 days on / 3 days off rotation or 8 days on / 6 days off - working upto 80-hour per pay period

Terms of employment

  • Have reliable transportation to travel to and from the lodge for scheduled shifts
  • The ability to live on-site during working shifts within a shared staff accommodation in a remote location
  • Willing to work a variety of shifts including early mornings, days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Flexible to work a diverse schedule to accommodate the business needs
  • Fluent in the English language

Event Coordinator / Guest Relations Assistant

Job Type: Full-time | Salary from: $22.50 per hour

Gostlin Keefer Lake Lodge is seeking an Event Coordinator / Guest Relations assistant to join the team. You would be responsible for developing, managing and assisting in year-round guest related events hosted at GKLL. This role requires a detail-oriented person who is willing and able to manage an event from start to finish and communicate with the facilitators, GKLL staff and guests.

Skills:

  • Works directly with clients on proposals, contracts, planning, set‐up, décor, cost & billing details and other requirements pertinent to their program
  • Promote GKLL as a premier destination for clients and vendors

  • Strong leadership ability with effective communication skills to relay concise direction Event Coordinator / Guest Relations Assistant (Full-time)
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining physical stamina, a positive mental attitude and the ability to communicate effectively with guests, management, employees and outside contact
  • Work with marketing team to develop and coordinate marketing goals, strategies and content
  • Assist in website updates when needed
  • Create marketing content i.e. assist in social posts, copy writing, digital ads etc…
  • Willingness to jump in and help with any aspect of operations when needed

Qualifications:

  • Event Management, Marketing Management, Communications or Hospitality certificate/diploma
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Event Management an asset.
  • Hospitality and/or adventure tourism experience an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, Word, and Excel
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel to and from the lodge. Accommodations will be provided on shift should you choose to stay.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing and moving necessary to perform job duties
  • Open to working a diverse schedule to accommodate the event schedule
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English
  • Legally able to work in Canada

Salary & Shifts:

Lodge Assistant

Job Summary

Reporting to the Lodge Management team, Lodge Assistants are responsible assisting the lodge management team with creating and delivering outstanding hospitality experiences. This role is a dynamic role that includes a range of responsibilities related to maintaining a high-end hospitality venue. The ideal candidates will enjoy variety at work, enjoy being on their feet and working in a fast paced environment, and will take great pride in delivering excellency.

Lodge life requires a team orientated approach to work and a willingness to take on any task required to help the lodge succeed. Lodge Assistants, should be willing and prepared to jump into any role within the lodge operations team, to ensure an overall outstanding guest experience.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome guests to the lodge in a positive and engaging manner
  • Set-up dining rooms and other food service areas for different meal periods
  • Take orders from guests for food and beverage
  • Provide a high standard of service during meal service.
  • Provide beverage service as needed and maintain a good knowledge of our bar and wine menu
  • Clean-up dining room and assist with dishes after food service
  • Assist in the kitchen as required (includes food prep, dishwashing etc.)
  • Maintain the cleanliness of workspaces and the lodge in general
  • Assist bartender with beverage preparation as needed
  • Perform housekeeping duties throughout the property including cleaning of guest rooms, changing rooms, common areas, bathrooms and staff accommodations
  • Maintain stock of housekeeping and service supplies and communicate needs to management
  • Assist with the organization, stock take and ordering for the retail store, FOH wares, Bar items as requested
  • Perform any other duties required around the lodge as required for business operations

    Working conditions

    • Accommodation and meals are supplied while working.
    • Summer schedules will vary according to events, but could work on shift rotations including 4 days on/3 days off or 7 days on 7 days off, working no more than 80 hours within a 2-week period
    • Keefer Lake lodge is located 14km down a logging road. Staff are required to have a reliable vehicle to get them to and from work. The road is regularly ploughed so is accessible via 2wd and 4wd drive vehicles. Winter tires are essential

      Salary & Shifts:

      • $19-$22/hour, plus gratuities, accommodations and meals whilst on shift

      Summer Event Staff - BOH - Chefs/Prep/Line Cooks

      Job Type: Casual | Renumeration: Competitive, based on experience

      Are you a skilled Chef who enjoys creating exquisite menus, in beautiful locations, with talented individuals?

      This summer Gostlin Keefer Lake Lodge has a range of private events which will see us hosting events for 30-60 ppl over the course of 3 days.

      For these events, we are looking for talented culinary experts to come and work adhoc events with our Head Chef, and be part of creating some exquiste food.

      Job Summary:

      We are looking for skilled cooks and chef with a minium of 1+ years experience in a professional kitchen environment.

      Requirements:

      • Experience in fine dining establishments considered an asset
      • FoodSafe Level 1 certification or higher - highly desireable
      • Must be able to take direction and have excellent attention to detail
      • Ideal applicants will be happy to support in all areas of the food service including: food prep, breakfast service & dinner service
      • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
      • Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth event operations
      • Follow food safety guidelines and maintain a safe working environment

      Terms of Employment

      • Must have reliable vehicle to travel to and from the lodge
      • Must be legally allowed to work in Canada
      • Must speak fluent English
      • Should be willing and able to stay on property during work shift rotations.

      • Most events will be taking place during weekends in July and August
      • Event sizes range from 20-60 people and run typically for 3 days
